Ring identification for Install? CB750 K1
« on: October 23, 2013, 02:52:33 am »
I bought my .50 oversize piston and ring kit from David Silvers. Didn't come with any written information.

The oil rings are obvious but which of the next two would be the compression ring and the second oil ring. They both have a 50 and and R etched on each side of the ring gap. One is dark grey on the edge And the other I silver on the edge. I don't know which way they face up in the pistons or which one is which.

Previous piston rings I have installed in my bike have had a dot stamped in the top side of the top compression ring and these do not. Has anyone used these kits before?

Once I have identified which one is which I can then measure the gaps in the bores and file if necessary.

All numbers or letters facing to top of piston, light grey ring on top, the black one in second position
