Pulling handlebar wires out. tips
« on: October 23, 2013, 08:44:49 AM »
I was removing the ape hangers and moving the controls to the stock bars last night and worked out a couple ideas. I used a heat gun to warm the bars, that helped soften the plastic covering on the wires. I turned them upside  down and sprayed some silicone inside, so it could run down inside. Then I used a paint can opener sharp side down  to insert into the edge of the drilled holes. I was able to use it to walk the cables out and keep the edge of the hole from cutting into the covering. All in all the easiest ones I've done yet.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Thanks for the tips. I recently bought a CB with ape hangers and they will need to come off. Will definitely try these ideas.
