78CB 750F Raask rearset fitment failure
« on: September 08, 2013, 06:15:38 PM »
Got these Raask rearsets from Omars and they are said to be bolt on to the 78 F well they aren't that I can see. Looks like they would fit a 77 F though, it had those long skinny footpeg mount plates. Can anyone confirm that the 77 and 78 had different peg mount plates. Maybe I am looking at something wrong. The Rassks are clearly stamped "F2" though. Did they make a mistake?

these are the rearsets:

on Omar's they are listed to fit a 77F2 and on but if the 77 and 78 had different plates this cant be right . Anyone with close up picks of a 77 and a 78 that would be helpful thanks

Here are pictures of two 78 super sports that I picked up a while ago the day I brought them home. Compare your pegs to these:

If I remember correctly, the 77 and 78 super sports had the same peg mounts, but I could be wrong.
The most dangerous part of a motorcycle is the nut that connects the handlebars to the footpegs.

that is exactly the probem. see your bikes (do they both say 78 on the necks?)
well they have two different peg mounts.
the one with the red tank has the ones like I have (talking about the brackets that the pegs mount to not the pegs), the one with the black tank has the skinny ones which look like the one that the Omars rear set bracket I have fit.  So the question is , whats the difference with those 78's? Is one an early model and one a later ? check the build date on the neck. Could be they were using 77 pegs mounts on the earlier 78F's then they changed? Either way Omars is wrong if they say the one they are selling for 78's fit them all. What do you guys think? thanks for pix kj

Orbs, the peg mounts are different from side to side.  (Guessing you already know this?)   KJ's pics look just like my 78f.
If it works good, it looks good...

I think i may have figured iit out. I think omars gave me two left side raask brackets. Have to look again though. May have jumped the gun on this one.

its understandable considering what you have to pay to get rear sets.  I hate spending a good chunk of money and having to send #$%* back for a mistake.

The Raask sets clamp "over" the stock bracket on the right side. HORRIBLE !...  Raask has "THE UGLIEST" set-up for 77-78 models.
I am currently building a mounting plate to set up some universal rear sets.

This help?

I appreciate your help. I managed to dig up a thread that had some good pix. Turns out you have to leave the brake side bracket on and it mounts over it. Kinda weird. Again thanks though. Great positive no judgemental helpful input.Good on ya.
