Seat length
« on: December 08, 2022, 03:06:57 AM »
Hi all,  I am putting a cb500/550 K tank on my F frame , does anyone know if the K seat is slightly longer than the F seat as the F is about 2 inches too short for the tank . Also do the hinges line Up? . Regards Dave

i tried putting the 550f/supersport/whatever tank with the lifting lid on my 73' cb500 frame and the tank was too long and wouldn't allow my seat to close. I dont think u can close the gap with a bolt on option like swapping seats. ..you could alway try to cut hinges and fab the seat pan.

Hi thanks for reply,  I want to do the opposite to you , if the K seat is longer than the F which is 26 inches then all. Anyone got a tape measure handy 🤔

I measured across the top of my seat and it was 26 5/8” for my 500/550 K seat pan and the hinges look to be in the same spot. I think both seats will come up short in the front with the K tank.

This is a 550 seat, but I don't know whether it's for a K or F.
It fitted straight up to a 500, so probably K, but I don't know if there's a difference.
If you need to move yours forward, maybe the easiest thing to do is offset the hinge.

the "F" had that plastic cover at the end of the seat that held the tool kit.
The "K" had a separate box next to the air cleaner for its tool kit.
