Topic: What year did they start issuing titles to motorbikes in AL?

I know that they didn't issue them up to the mid-70's in Alabama, but when did they start? Anybody know? I'm in Tennessee and am about to apply for a title for a bike I just bought.

Mine is a 75 and I live in Alabama...it has a title, but when I went to register and get the tag, she told me the title was not necessary. She just charged me for the tag and registration. So, I have a title with the PO name and address on it.  Which seems odd to me, but she said because of the bikes age, the title work was not needed.

Interesting - so they issued them at least as far back as '75. Thanks for the info.

I have a 75 without the title and its registered and tagged. All I had to do was have it inspected and have the V.I.N. run. The law is anything over 35 years does not require it.

You don't need one to register the bike but you should have the title to show ownership. I would go back and apply for the title.
