an observation
« on: October 31, 2013, 06:34:36 AM »
just installed an oil cooler in the usual spot on a cb750f, up in front of the top of downtubes.  also have a temp guage threaded into the fins on head at #2 exhaust port ( i know not terribly accurate)  without the oil cooler bike was running consistent 160-165 temps going down the road.  now that the cooler is installed, i noticed the temp is roughly 10-12 degrees warmer under same conditions.  is this because the cooler sits in the air flow over the head?

Most likely the cause. I would be more interested in the temp gauge threaded in to the oil tank, adapt to drain bolt hole? The oil is the more important temp anyway
