Front fork tube source, other than Cycle X ?
« on: October 22, 2013, 10:47:46 PM »
Does anyone know of another source for shortened front fork tubes, other than Cycle X? I want to lower my K3 by an inch, and Cycle X is "temporarily out of stock"  of the shortened tubes until early December. I was planning on buying their lowering kit(tubes and shocks), but would rather not wait until December. I have already been waiting for a few weeks, tired of wiating to work on my project. Any help would be appreciated.

Forks by Frank?  I'm going to have a set of 6" overs cut down 7 or 8" for the drag bike restoration I'm doing.

I'm NEVER that guy, but I asked the same question Monday on here, try searching next time.

Forking frank only takes phone call orders and cash on delivery.
His quality is apparently some of the best.
Cycle x also supplies the masses, but is out of stock as you noticed. If you are in dire need, you could always order a kit from them and have the tubes cut down.

Frank's is located a couple miles from my home.  If you look into him and the method of payment is the only thing holding you back, shoot me a message and we can work something through my PayPal account and I can then pay him up front on your behalf.

Thanks for the input- I never found anything when I did a search, other than stock length forks. I sent Franks Forks an email to check their price, which is higher than Cycle X's, but it may be worth it to not have to wait 5-6 weeks to order, plus delivery time.  I want to get my bike off the bike jack. and back on the ground/wheels. Oh,  they are still on Pintner Ave., in Evanston.

cb550 forks are popular for lowering cb750's by an inch or an inch and a half (cant recall exactly)
I am also waiting for the cyclex ones to come back in stock for the the minus 2inch uppers. Perhaps someone else can chime in about the 550 forks. Might need the lowers and brake calipers and rotors as well not sure.

Yup Forking by Frank.  COD, old school style... I was going to have them deliver it at my job in NYC but figured Id get stopped by some dude with a helmet on and mp5 wondering what the hell it was.

She is getting up there in age, very nice woman and straight to the point.  Just say your year model and if you want standard or over an inch, shorter etc and then it comes right to your door.  Its not as bad as it sounds.  Its just $300 now....  :(
