Anybody have a source for ultrasonic carburetor cleaning?
« on: May 19, 2005, 08:55:25 PM »
The slow jets on my '78 CB750 carbs must be clogged, ??? because I can get the bike to start, but it sputters as soon as it warms up and I open up the choke.  I've tried Berryman's, dipping in ammonia, and spraying carb-cleaner through every hole I can see.  I have not yet pulled out the pressed slow-jets to see how clogged they are, just cause I'm concerned about using pliers to pull them out, and then tapping them back in.  I'd like to try ultrasonic cleaning, but I also don't want to pay $200 my local shop charges for cleaning a rack of carbs.

appreciate any leads.

Thanks - Six.

F2 carbs mate? I had a #$%* of a time with mine, it'd start first kick, but wouldn't idle on #4, so I (carefully) pulled the pilot jet out and guess what? It was blocked so bad I couldn't unblock it, so I had to replace it. Now it idles like a new bike, sweeet.

Ultrasonic cleaning might work (the bodies will come up like new) so try taking your carbs to a gun shop where they do their own reloading, they clean all their used cartridge cases in an ultrasonic cleaner, so I reckon for a few bucks they let you leave your carbs in there overnight? Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I have access to a Ultrasonic cleaner. E-mail me and we can probably work something out. I just did a set of CB750 F carbs a couple weeks ago came out looking new.
