Alternative intake
« on: May 19, 2005, 11:46:16 PM »
Hey again

Im currently thinking about doing something new with my intake  /air filter setup. in stead of the central mounted air filter plastic thingie, I'd like to make two metal intake pieces going out through the side panels, or perhaps just before thepanels. and mount some sort of filter onto this.

my questions are now, can this be done without loss of efficiency? And if it is possible would a 4-carb-one-filter approach be the best, or would a two-carb-one-filter be the way to go?

I've been told that if you have CV carbs they need to share the same airbox. But then I also know lots of people have put on KN filter or pods on their bikes and it has worked. So why not, try it! And let us know how it worked.. :)

hi, yep you can have 4 pod filters or you can get another type of pod filter that does 1 filter to 2 carbs and you can also get aftermarket filters that go 1 filter to 4 carbs ;) hope this helps maybe some of the other members can point you in the way of makes and suppliers :)   mick.

thanks a lot.
It seams i have to have a little chat with my parts pusher about this :)

The plan is to move the intake filter, and use the newfound space under the seat for the battery and other electronic devices, that way I can make a couple of side panels that are a bit closer to the frame.
