CB-specific rearsets
« on: January 11, 2007, 05:11:32 PM »
I'm in the process of designing and prototyping adjustable rearsets for my CB550. I'm not a big fan of shelling out $250+ for some RAASK rearsets that, from what I've heard, have poor mounting brackets, are non-adjustable, and are brittle.

that's funny---mlinder, billdramp, and i have been talking about designing some. we want to cast some of the parts, and doing so pretty much means making a lot to make it pay off. my complaint with most of the rearsets available is that they look too modern. i want to make some that look like they belong on the bike, maybe even fitting stock foot rubbers. we'll let everyone know if it comes together. anyway,  i'd love to see what yours end up looking like.

The Raask rearsets are a bit on the crude side, but I wouldn´t call them brittle.
Looking forward to see what you come up with.

Daniel is just saying that because he lives Sweden ;) Actually, I agree. I've had a set for about14 years. What would be good is to use the Raask as a pattern and make stuff out of billet.

Would these be fitting the 750 or just the 550?

What are these gonna cost when all is said and done ?

I got the ones for my CB450 project (would work on ANY bike) from a sportbike junkyard for $100.
All I gotta do is make the linkage (shouldnt be an issue) , and I am done. I will have well under $150 into them once completed.. They are offa 2001 GSXR 1000.

Also OHIOCAFERACER Greg has a slick setup for Honda factory rearsets to adapt to older bikes as well..
