Between deer hunting and Thanksgiving got a few things done. Took the shocks apart and they cleaned up real nice. Just need to pick up a couple shock grommets.  Here is a couple before and after shots. Front headlight chrome and retaining ring are now spotless. Started to take the front off, but most of that work regarding forks, master, caliper, wheel bearings, steering bearings and new front tire will be done after Christmas. Got a few things I need to paint first. Will be installing new diffusers in the 300's and finish up the carbs. Happy Thanksgiving guys and gals... :D

Hi John,
Everything sure is cleaning up nice!  Amazing what a little love and elbow grease can do for a neglected bike.  ;D

Time for an update: got the front off the bike. Nothing unusual. Will work on the steering bearings, polish and rebuild the forks, etc. You guys know the procedure. Tins are now in for candy blue green. Ordered MC kit, seals, etc. Seems to be a long winter ahead here in WI. Predicting -4 tonight and wind chill of -15 below.

Excellent work!  Someday I hope to have a garage with the nice coke machine my dad's been neglecting, and a gas pump like that.

Keep your eyes open...these pumps are becoming hard to find for a decent price. A pump found in this condition is going for around $500 now.

Just got the tree off and a pleasant surprise...already has tapered bearings. Take a look at the 2nd pic...what are you guys using to repair or replace the broken plastic protecting the harness?

Is it pretty much like shrink tubing?

I'm not sure if you can shrink it, but it's soft tubing that's just like the original stuff.  They also sell the good electrical tape for wrapping the main section of the harness.

I don't think it is shrink tubing and I don't thing you would want shrink tubing.

Thanks...I will go with the tubing and tape. Now that the triple is off I got a better pic of the neck sticker below. The engine is 0003. The PO title was issued in 1991. Now have the title in my name and will be good to go.

The VIN on the frame indicates it is a mid-range sandcast.  Your plate is correct for that number and should not have the date.

I want a sandcast engine for the frame now. I found a spot on the rear mount where a chunk of alum. is missing completely where the bolt goes through....I think it's a sign

Today I changed the front and rear wheel bearings and carrier bearing. They were all original. I noticed some denting on the front bearing for some reason (see pic). In looking out the shop window it does not look like I will be riding for a while.
Merry Christmas all...

I've got All Balls bearings for the KO and K6, but have only done the rear on the KO so far. Just a little white stuff on the ground. Nothing like a white Christmas. Wish ours was snow instead of rain :( How  many inches would you say Johnie. Did you get the fork oil changed with 10W30?
