Nils,

The bike's a looker.  I wish your better half would give it a "go."  If you find the trick to it, let me know.

So shortly it's going to be sold. Stranger than fiction!
Well, at least she supports your passion, even if she doesn't share in it.

Wherever/however you choose to sell it, post a link to the listing in this thread, I'm sure you have a lot of fans here already who'd like a chance to get their mitts on that sweet little bike.

FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

And I've always admired you restoration skills. I'm still learning from you on this thread.

The Donzi is for sale as the new business up here in Oregon doesn't allow for much free time in the summer. It's all I can do to get out for a ride on the 919 now and then.

Don't want to hijack your fantastic build thread, but the boat is available on Portland and Lake Tahoe Craigslist.

OK fellas, he's being modest. He restored that boat, I registered on a Donzi site where he had his project posted just to watch some of it happen. It's cherry.

Thanks for the good words Patrick and good luck with the new venture. Always nice to cross paths with you.

Definitely talk to Nils about your build.  Not only can he help you with specifics, he can also warn you about potential mistakes (been there and done that or nearly done that).

HAHAHAHA!

Yes I can indeed! Most all of the ones I made are documented in their full (occasionally bloody) glory in this very thread, and I made several along the way. I know a few spots where thar be draguns. You want to get MoMo (Larry) interested mostly, he's likely forgotten more than I learned and still knows more, but I will definitely help.

What, you don't have a blue CB400F Phil??!!

:-)

The bike is now on eBay, will be sold shortly if the reserve is met. There are 65 watchers! Some of you?

It made it over 100 watchers, just sold for $4,500. I was hoping for higher, but I think that's near the top of the market for these in non-original condition. The guy that bought it seems like a very cool dude, he's coming through Tucson on his way to doing one of those ADV routes that goes from AZ up to Idaho, which should be pretty epic.

I'm happy enough, I have other projects queued up, and it frees up space and capital, both of which are in demand.

NEXT!

Congrats, I would be happy with that price. Keep in mind, it is a 400F.

There's an excellent bit of wisdom embedded in there: It more or less costs the same to restore a 400F as a 750, for example. Granted you might pay a bit more for some 750 parts, but comparable. Nevermind that there's no money in restoring bikes in the first place, there's REALLY no money in restoring bikes without the huge following the larger SOHCs have.

I'm not bummed - yes of course I am upside down (as all of you that have done one know), but I did it for my wife, and it was great entertainment.

Nils,

I was and is a beautiful project.  I just meant that I hope the guy knows he got a HECK of a deal.

I am in the midst of preparing to sell my 750.  I have absurd amounts of lucre burned in tribute to that bike, which I know I will never fully recoup.

Nils,

I was and is a beautiful project.  I just meant that I hope the guy knows he got a HECK of a deal.

I am in the midst of preparing to sell my 750.  I have absurd amounts of lucre burned in tribute to that bike, which I know I will never fully recoup.

Thanks as always for the good words Don :-)
