'78 750A loom ground
« on: October 30, 2013, 04:32:12 PM »
The ground to frame on the left side (which I assume from reading the forums and the schematic is the loom ground) is still attached to the
frame but I've forgotten where it connected to since I replaced the old harness. I'm hoping someone might be able to direct me. I think it is my last hurdle. Thanks.

Pretty sure about this - front bolt of the coils, left side.

Scroll down for a pic of the ground location.  I know this is an F bike - but it is the same as on my A.

From what I've read these things are close to the tank? Mine mounts low near where the swingarm bolts to the frame at the bottom. I've circled the
flange that I need to connect with something. The other end is bolted to the frame just a few inches away. It's about foot and a half
long.

that looks like the battery ground - not the loom ground.  The end you've circled goes to the battery negative connection.  The other end should be a round ring, and goes in between the engine and the frame, right side - back/upper engine mount.

My battery negative is on the right side. This is on the left.

then the only option then - is that is the starter power cable - and should go to the starter solenoid.

That was my suspicion. So it bolts to the frame and which terminal of the solenoid?

I'm confused. I need to go have another look at it but I'm pretty sure this thing is bolted to the frame. I'll drop in on friday or saturday to where I have it stored.

The solenoid has two large cables.  One goes to the battery, and the other goes to the starter (which is hidden under a cover on the left side of the motor).

If the other end mounts to the frame, then it is the negative for the battery.  There aren't any other large ground wires on a stock A bike.

If you've got something else, it doesn't appear to be stock.
