Topic: wheelie bar tube diameter

 I'm wanting to build a set of retro wheelie bars for my 750 drag bike.  Not as long as modern but functional (just in case) I'm thinking about 4'. Anyway I'm wondering about the diameter, what size chrome moly was used back in the day?
 One thought is to make them telescope together to get them out of the way when not in use. Then a pit pin to hold them into place.
 If I use .058 wall, the sizes slip into each other in 1/8" increments.
 Of course skateboard wheels, wasn't that what they were originally?

Skateboard wheels are what we use.

I used 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch If I remember right.  And yes skate board wheels.

I've used  7/8 and 5/8 Reynolds 531 round tubing when constructing the wheelie bars for my replica 70s sohc Drag Bike. I made them 36ins long and used Pingel convex wheels . I have used skateboard wheels in the past , but  I've decided, that absolute authenticity isn't really necessary for every detail on this bike, so I decided to use wheels made specifically for the job . Here are a couple of pics of my wheelie bars .

Awesome, thanks! There's a drilled hole in the swingarm,  he (PO) had an aluminum bracket mounted over it and the axle (longer and threaded on both ends) then it extended rearward to make a sideways t to mount the clevis' on. I think I'll use a footpeg in that hole too.
