cush drive rubbers
« on: October 31, 2013, 11:37:46 AM »
Hi there
I have a CB750 K2 and I'm currently having new wheels built.
Do you think it is worth buying new cush drive rubbers and if so any leads on where to buy them.
The ones I have are as old as the bike. They look OK but not sure if there is an advantage to getting new ones
Thanks for your time
Scott

If they don't show signs of deterioration they should  be fine to reuse.

It's never a bad idea to replace ancient rubber. If they still look good it's kind of a personal preference.

If you do decide to do it though, Bikebandit is where I would get them.

Mysta, I've never seen Bikebandit have the best price on anything. For OEM parts your best bet is South Sound Honda.

They may look ok but they are certainly rock hard after ~35 years.

Honda still stocks them. Also they upgraded the design in 71? 72?
I can't remember. There's a service bulletin about it.

I had a lot of play on my 2003 VStrom sprocket and so extracted the cush rubbers to see what was what. They were soft and pliable andlooked fine, yet 2-3 mm thinner than the new ones I bought to replace them.

Reduced a lot of driveline lash I was feeling. YMMV.
