Yamiya Body Kits
« on: October 31, 2013, 06:22:55 PM »
Hi All,

Just looking to see if anyone here has bought a Yamiya CB750 body kit and what they thought of it. It seems that for what I'd pay to have roughed up parts (dented tank, bent fork ears, replacement side covers & headlight bucket) wouldn't be all that far from what these guys get for a complete kit in the pretty original color of your choosing. Just looking for some feedback before I pull the trigger on my purchase... Thanx!

I think they look great and with the new prices... 1300 I think it may be worth it.

$1300 is not a bad price but keep in mind that then you'll have to buy a cap, petcock and all the badges. You wont wanna put old crappy ones on a new tank.  Do it!

What does it cost to pay a shop to paint a body set? I got a bid of $600 once. didn't pull the trigger yet.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Unfortunately, the body shop I used to use (they did the excellent job on my gold K1) has gone out of business. For a straight-up paint job, with no major repairs (dents, rust, etc) they charged $800 - and I supplied the paint kit. So you have to factor that in as well. Stev-o: Yes, new hardware is a must for most of what you mentioned. I've done pretty good reconditioning the 'HONDA' badges, but new gas cap and tank moldings (tank bottom edge trim) are a MUST!
