Wiring Harness on a 77 750K
« on: November 02, 2013, 07:49:18 AM »
Allright, I am going to start drinking. I appreciate the help from My other wiring thread. Installing the other harness I got
from canada and after closer inspection it seems this harness must be from a 750F or 78 750. The plug for the fuse block
on my old harness is red, & brown wiring. The one I am installing is red, brown/blue, and brown/white and brown/red. This harness isn't going to work either on my 77K is it.  They said this harness was from a 77K. Ahhhhh!

I do not know about the Canadian CB750 harness but most of the harnesses are almost the same. The main differences are in the handlebar switches.

IF you have a Clymers workshop manual it shows all of the wiring harnesses and you will see the differences. Makes it easy to understand.

There is one mistake in the Clymers manual on the 1975 era harness where the switches are mislabeled but it is a very obvious mistake.

Thanks Lucky, I don't have a clymer manual. Just looking at some diagrams on line. Have the stock diagram. The harness looks identical to my old one. I just noticed the different color wiring when pluging in fuse block to harness. All other plugin's match in wire color. Do you think this harness will work or I look for another.
Thanks again

Indeed, the K7 (U.S. and Canadian are identical) has a different harness than either the K8 or F2/F3. But the differences are minor. You should be able to get it to work. You--better since none of them are available from Honda.

Okay, Harness did come from a 78K, US model. Besides the wiring color difference on the fuse box plug I see know difference in the harness. Is it going to hurt anything to hook it up or should I keep looking for a 77K harness

Hook it up--it will work fine. Both models, the K7 and K8, use the same fuse box and are 99.9 plus % identical.

Wobbly,
Just about have the 78 harness hooked up on my 77 restoration. I did find this green wire with plug coming out of the harness at the coil wiring plugs
and green frame ground that my 77 didn't have. Can I roll it up and just tuck it out of the way.
Thanks Again

@ katman
Aside from the front brake light switch, I don't know of any differences as far as the wiring goes. What I would like to see though is a picture of the bike once you are done.
