its finally ready to ride
« on: August 30, 2006, 08:06:00 PM »
After 5 years I finally got my 73 CB750 on the road. I really want to thank everyone on the forum for all the great info. I don't think have done it without the help. I'd like to offer a bit of advice to anyone just starting the process. Unless the bike has been kept in a heated garage;
New battery
Replace the cables
Replace the engine seals
Replace the fork seals
Rebuild the brake master cylinder and caliper, flush the brake lines
Rebuild the carbs (even if they look good)
Change the points,plugs and caps
New tires, tubes and rim strips
Replace the wheel bearings
Check and clean the rear brake drum
Clean all electrical connections
Keep the stock air cleaner until you know that the bike runs well
Get a repair manual

I have found that there is no "cheap" way to resurect one of these machines and have it road worthy. Even though my Bike is a work in progress I'm on the road.

I'm liking the red spokes/rims.  It compliments the bike nicely.  And I've always been a fan of the black on black engine and headers.

Overall, very nice!

But if I had any say, I would bob that rear end, get rid of the king/queen and sissy bar, and put a low profile front fender on there (the one on there now kinda looks like a dirtbike fender  ;D)

Not to be a naysayer, but somehow I don't think that's a red front rim/spokes...  :o

Yeah the back looks purple-ish, but I thought that might just be an iridescent effect of the lighting.

Unless of course you mean it's painted with the blood of a thousand vigins... (which is near what it costs to get some of these bikes running again  ;D)
