'75 750 Carburetor Link Arm (Shaft?) sticking
« on: March 15, 2014, 02:11:45 PM »
I've had my 750 for a couple of years now and the throttle has ALWAYS been slow to close. So this winter I took the carbs off and cleaned them up and also wanted to address the sluggish throttle response. This is my first bike and I'm not sure what I should be trying to fix on this. I know that I could try to replace the throttle return spring, but even without the spring it takes a fair amount of pressure to get the carbs to open and close. I attached links to some videos. One has the spring attached and the other is without the spring. Thanks.

I recently had this problem with a set of pd42a's...turned out number 4 throttle body got mis-shapen during shipping causing the slide to stick.  Had to replace the number 4 carb body.  You are probably gonna have to take those carbs off the rack so you can isolate the problem.
If it works good, it looks good...

Loosen all 4 of the slide hold down large caps by unscrewing them a little. See if they go any easier. I had some that were not centered. I had another set that the slide bar was real dirty, but you could not see it under the sleeve.
