Triple tree with increased offset
« on: November 05, 2013, 01:03:35 PM »

Anyone know if there is a triple tree out there that works with the CB750 (K6) and has more offset than the stock tree? The stock tree has a 2.45" offset and I was hoping for 3" - 3.5".

Just to be clear...
Offset is the distance between the front fork legs and the neck pivot point.
Why would you want more offset?
What are you trying to accomplish?

OR are you talking about trail when you say 2.45- 3-3.5"?

Why on earth would you want more offset..?, the Honda is already under 4 inches which is less than the GSXR's, more offset and you'll need 2 steering dampers,   :o   reducing the trail  on a 750/4 is not necessary at all, especially on the street......

Making a drag style bike. Just increased the neck rake by about 10 degrees. I figure if I increase the offset by around 1 inch, I'll bring the trail back to around 5 inches.

Ahhhh, i see now, maybe you should have said that earlier, sorry for the misunderstanding. Have you done any measurements to see what your trail will end up at..?

Still acquiring the parts so it's all on paper at this point. With a stock K2-6 tree I figure the trail at around 6.5", maybe a little less. A custom tree with a 2-3 degree rake would bring the trail back but they're pricey so I thought I'd see if anyone knew of a stock tree from a different bike that fit the 750 neck and had a bigger offset. I figure another inch of offset would get the trail back to a desirable number without increasing the rake more.

My red street chopper had 10 degrees more rake, and I ran stock trees and forks.. It was fine.

Even  with a low 4-1 needing a bit of clearance, 4 over with stock trees will probably work

Thanks. The general consensus seems to be that an extra 10 degrees will work. Finding the right tree was a long shot, but I figured I'd at least try. I will be using drag pipes, so hopefully clearance won't be an issue.

If its going to be a straight line bike the extra trail will make it more stable.... ;)  Frank has had these typw of bikes all his life, if he says it will work, it will work... ;)
