Looks great, can you tell, us what the tank went for..second go around?

They listed it at buy it now of $809.10.  About 10% lower than the original auction of $899.00  They used the original auction photos and exact narrative to describe the item.  International_liquidatorz is their username.  I wasn't the only one caught in this trap either. Another cb 750 tank that I had watched sell, also showed up under this liquidator being resold a second time, also about 10 % lower than what it had sold in the first auction.

So I made some kind of rookie mistake when I assembled my lower cases.  I discovered my front sprocket doesn't spin easily... it spins, just not like it should. I posted the problem in the main forum   http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=140243.0   I cant imagine what I did wrong but not being familiar enough with how the tranny works identifies the problem right there- not familiar enough.  So this event puts a big stall on my progress. I was almost there.  I will look at taking the engine out right away, fixing the problem and carrying on, hopefully get a mile or two on it before the snow falls.

Haha, It isn't getting cold yet. We're getting 75-80 F temps right now and it looks like it will last for a while yet.  I was feeling pretty defeated yesterday but I'm feeling optimistic I can reverse my mistake pretty quick. It looks like the shifter's C fork didn't fall into place. I've put every free second I had this past month, thinking I would have the bike ready to fire, tune, get safety inspected, insured and start riding and break in.   All before my kid moves back in ( have to build storage and clean out his room) and then start running my 82 yr old mother to medical appointments (starting chemo in Calgary - a 3 hour drive one way). I figure by the time I get through this and get back to the bike,  6 weeks will have gone by and... brrr, those 80 degree days are long gone.  That is all I meant.

Anyways.... optimistic that I will find some time here. After a Pm with Hondaman, I understand the C fork can easily not go into place if one isn't careful and know to double check it. I didn't know and didnt check it.  So no crying just get doing.   I'm having a quiet moment at work right now, 430 am and I don't get home for another 3 hours.  I really dislike my shift work schedule these days. Getting to old for it.  I hope next Wednesday Thursday days off will find the time to fix this. I'll post pics if I remember to stop and take them.  This is all part of the build I guess. I'm envisioning a sidecar with a heated seat and windscreen for your Mum as you drive her to and fro to the treatments? Might be just what her blessed heart needs, a little soul uplifting to endure the discomfort?

Either way, we will say a little prayer for her, and for you with the trans. Good on you for keeping the priorities in order. Your bike will survive some separation time from you when your family needs you more.

Lol.  Thanks for the well wish but especially, thanks for cracking me up. That was funny.   ;D

I woke up at the crack of 1:30... that's right, PM and figured I could get a couple hours in before heading off to work again. I started lightening the bike to flip it on it's side to pull the motor. Man I can disassemble. Things always come apart way faster than it went together.  Sorry no pictures but who wants to look at that anyways. I'll update again, likely not til I've confirmed my transmission problem and am re-building again.  Cheers. ;)

So... small up date. Pulled the engine prepared to split the cases expecting to find the transmission C fork out of place. I did not get that far. Before splitting the lower cases, the counter shaft retainer had to be pulled away.  Just pulling the retainer away from the counter shaft bearing released what ever was binding inside the transmission.  Kinda confusing how on earth that could happen but whatever, the transmission now works like it should and I am putting the bike back together again.... ;D

Well, I burnt the midnight oil a couple nights and I got back to where I left off and then some. Carbs and exhaust now installed.  Tear and down and reassembly went way faster than I imagined (Third time to take this bike apart). Although, it's still a lot of work or so it seems and I was afraid to dinging the paint here and there.

I bit the bullet and went with Yamiya "no numbers".  Those no-no's are Yes-Yes!!. I like em. Easy peasy install.






I had rebuilt my carbs 3 years ago and there's only 300 miles on them. New o-rings, any rubber- ie gaskets, air idle springs,  New jet needle and seat, float jet.. all Honda OEM. This time, I dropped the jet needle clip one notch, replaced the 110 main jet with 115's but left the slow jet at 40.  Cleaned with Honda's own carb clean.  We'll see how this goes.

Now, I've got a signal light, head light wiring issue to figure out.... but firing this has to wait until Monday  :(

So it's true they're only original once but they can look new twice.  Here is some back alley glamor shots of the completed bike then I took it out for a short road test around the block.
I had a timing challenge that I over came with a little help from my forum friends. Thank you boyz. I had to pull the carbs and re bench sync to bring the idle down. The test ride put a smile on my face. She pulled decent to 5000 rpm where I shut it down. I read to ride em hard to break in but I wanted to stay away from Red line today. I have to get a provincial govt inspection next but also figure out why my signal lights are not working as well. Here's some shots. Thanks for following along. Cheers

What you like best is So true. I didn't finish my BCR creation and painting the tank and covers would have made a big difference. Frankly, the seat, despite the progressive shocks, did not give my old spine enough protection. I took a couple bumps that sent a jolt from my arse crack to my hair line that was pretty uncomfy.  ;D

Seriously?  That's really cool. I could say it's finished for this year at least but they're never really finished. I've plans to upgrade wheels being either restored Lesters or SS spokes and aluminum rims but I've run out of time til next year. I always vote too.  Was a hard choice this month.  Well thanks if you nominate.  :)

That's cool guys.  Thanks for the kind words. I am almost ready to accept.

When putting my signal lights on, I overcame a ground issue, then a loose connection issue and got them working. When the brakes went in, the levers lit the tail light like they should. Then the dash board went in no problems. Last was the head light.   All of these functions tested and worked independently of each other until my inaugural ride, around the block, a couple days ago when I turned on the headlight switch to discover my signal lights wouldn't flash but also my headlight and taillight flashed with the headlight switch off.  No big deal I thought. All that color coded goodness mashed behind the headlight just needed a quick go over and re-plug the right color that I must have screwed up. lol.  Nope, not that easy.

Basically, I posted on the general forum which led to a bunch of good ideas and I've resolved 99% of the problem. The headlight doesn't switch off. It's on ful time when the bike is running.  I  have to get a government safety inspection next and before I can get a license plate.  These guys can be real sticky and I don't have any bribe money (j/k) I'll continue to work on this issue but I might call, explain the problem and see if they care.  Today is a Labor day holiday and I can't arrange the inspection til tomorrow. Hopefully, Im not looking at a two week wait.
