Hello
« on: November 03, 2013, 02:57:21 PM »
Hello to all,
I'm a life long bike rider, started with a 2hp mini bike then a '72  SL70 KO Ruby Red. Sure miss that little bike, the coon and I put many miles on the little SL.
I have recently found a nice rebuilt '71 SL175 that looks new and I will be getting it soon. I will try to post some pics of it soon. Take care, Farmer

PS, I have no idea how these 175's run or how much pep/speed they have,, would really like to hear from those who have them or have had them.

lol Thanks for the welcomes! I had a pet coon, Coonie Boy who rode on whatever I was riding. I had a Shetland named Buddy and the coon rode behind me and held on like a little person with his tail hung over to one side.
On the SL70, he sat in front of me and leaned over the tank and held onto the T-Bar, Coonie Boy was a riding fool, to say the least.
One day when I was supposed to be raking sweet gum leaves/balls, we took a short ride and stopped for a couple of minets to visit a neighbor. Coonie ran under the man's house and wouldn't come out for a while, I got mildly rebuked by my Dad for that caper.

Welcome farmer. dhall from NC. Sounds like we sort of followed the same path growing up when it came to Honda's. I started out with a 3 1/2 horse Briggs on a Sensation mini bike. Then I jumped up to a Honda CT 70 mini trail. Never had a SL70 but had several friends that did and we rode together quite a bit. Then I went to a red 1971 SL 175. Rode it on the street and was just the right size for me as a 16 year old teenager for off road and trail riding. Ran like a top and the 175 power plant rev's up very quick to the red line. I loved that little bike and I think you will to. Post some pics of it when you can and tell us a little about.
