Replacement "tongued washers" for rear wheel CB750?
« on: November 07, 2013, 01:36:29 PM »
So these are the two curved pieces that go between the sprocket and the lug nuts, with the tabs that bend up to keep the nuts from backing off (p/n 94108-17000). They're no longer available, so what do y'all use when replacing a rear sprocket?
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

Are you sure Honda doesn't carry them anymore? I find that hard to believe. In the meantime: http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb750f-750-super-sport-1976-usa_model490/washer-a7-tongued_9410817000/

I just use Loctite 262/263 and have had zero issues. I remove my sprocket for gear changes pretty often, and the Loctite does it's job perfectly. Just a little dab is all you need.

If you want the original configuration, disregard this post.

I use nylocks, trust them more than reused washers.

Well, you are not supposed to reuse them. I believe they are about 1 or 2 $ a piece. And since they are quite visible...

A little pricey? CMS in the Netherlands is usually very expensive, but they only charge 1 Euro ($ 1.33) a piece. The best bet is the dealership. I am sure that they are still available. I always check Honda first. There is nothing better than the real thing :)

I am sure Honda would use modern means of locking nuts if it existed back in the day.

I prefer to improve where I can - for example electronic ignition is better than the real thing such as points.  Just saying  ;D

Don't be fooled: I have electronic ignition, steel brake lines, and the Konis aren't from Honda either. :)
The tongued washers come polished, work fine, and look pretty nice against the black sprocket plate/cover. That's all.  :D

Like any mail order, it isn't worth it to have a 1$ shipped--which is why I suggest the local Honda dealership. But if you really need a part from Europe, I could help out. I only pay domestic postage from Germany to the continental U.S., being at zip 09180.

Not if it breaks down on the road, I have been seriously considering going back to points and the Hondaman points amplifier.
Much easier fix when all you usually need is a condenser or a point and point file.
With electronic you are up $hit creek until you get a replacement unit.

Yamiyas got them in a set with the disc brake washers and nuts, for about $8. Usually about $18 S&H from Japan. Usually 3 days to Indiana. IF you can find another of their really cool trinkets to buy it may make it worth it.
