I understand there are states that do not require front brakes on motorcycle, is that correct? 

Is there a list of states somewhere?

And no, I am not taking my brake off

Yeah!  But I saw choppers without front brake.

3 of my choppers don't have front brakes let alone turn signals and speedometer. There is no law in kansas that says you have to have a brake in the front I should have turn signals. It's required here on 1975 and newer.

Why would anyone sacrifice safety like that?  I can see it if you're building something that will never be ridden, but then even that is a waste?

A fellow I work with has a new HD street bob and for what ever reason he's scared sh..less to use the front brake. Many newb riders are paranoid that they'll go over the bars if they do no matter what you tell them.

When ever you hear someone say,  " I had to lay my bike down", it just means they locked up their rear brake.
Learn to use,(and keep it on your bike), your front brake.    I have no problem riding my bike without my helmet, but I will not ride one with out a front brake.

That's what I keep telling him but it just goes in one ear and out the other. Earlier this summer we had a kid at work who showed up on an R6 yamaha with the front calipers hanging off the forks with zip ties. Can't remember the story but it had to do with loosing the caliper bolts while mounting the front rim the night before. It didn't faze him one bit either because he too never used the front brakes in fear of going over the bars and used only the rear brake. After seeing this mess we didn't let him leave the parking lot that day until the boys in maintenance dug up some bolts. Now granted the R6 front brakes are a lot stronger than the HD street bob, I know because the front brakes on my kids cbr take some getting used to  but some of these newbs are just plain stupid. Oh and the kid with the R6 had already dumped the bike once before which explains the lack of fairing in the pic. Gee I wonder why?

I'm one of those weight reduction enthusiasts, but I believe in front brakes, especially on the street. This is why I run a dual front rotor setup in spite of the extra mass.

I don't ride choppers, all my bikes have had front brakes, a chopper with a front break will stop faster than one without...but in all fairness hardtail bikes do not transfer their weight the same as a normally suspended bike and so the front brake  does not comprise 80% of the stopping power in the situation of a hardtail...

The fact of the matter is, not everyone is cut out for or going to survive motorcycling.
Some will perish sooner than others and those who fear the use of a front brake or choose to omit it should be candidates for the Darwin Awards.

With a stock 750 front brake, going over the bars is not really possible.

I remember "King" selling a bike w/o a front brake.  He got hammered about it on here, seemed to be the reason he went away.

He got hammered for bragging about selling it to a newbie rider and bragging about how much profit he made building his bikes and selling them to unsuspecting buyers. He "left" after the sandcast and "Imola race bike" fiascos, if I recall correctly. It was a bit comical, as a few of us were following his attempt to make a new secret identity. We knew who he was within mere minutes..
