New 4 into 1 exhaust installed.
« on: August 31, 2006, 01:47:16 PM »
Guys,

I just installed my 4 into 1 exhaust.  I was debating whether or not to take out the baffles?  It is very quite compared to my old 4 into 2 set-up.  I know that I need back pressure to prevent the bike from running rich.  Will the baffle grow louder over time as it ages?  I really haven’t noticed a power increase over the 4 into 2 set-up, but then again, I only took it for a 10 minute spin and didn’t get it above 5 grand.  I need to pull the plugs to see how hot I am running.  I was running a tad bit rich with the 4 into 2.  I’ll post a picture once my new seat and front brake caliper are installed.

I think you have that backwards...without the baffle you would have more air flow, and possibly run lean, not rich.  However, with regard to running lean or rich you don't "need" the baffle one way or the other, thats what jets are for.  Once you get you preferred air filter/exhuast setup, you jet accordingly.

No

I took the handle off my floor jack and beat the bastard out from the inside.
Lots of WD40 and some good solid hits and the thing came out.
Sounds WICKED all the way open..
