78 CB750 F2 Front brake pad installation-weird
« on: November 12, 2013, 02:19:44 PM »
These are a little different than the K's I have worked with . Had these off and disassembled when I got the bike. Has some little aluminum type "retainers" I am guessing . To me its a bit of a puzzle. Found one thread but pix were for back brake. Trying to figure what keeps these pads in place and what goes were. Also not sure if I have ."all the pieces" .
Any help greatly appreciated.

thanks fellas

Isn't the rear caliper identical to front ones on F2?

Perfect! It says to replace the pads and shims- are new shims suppose to come with the pads? Also I may be missing a pad spring. Are these easy to come by?
I am having to adapt a r6 rear master cylinder as the stock one was beyond a rebuild and apparently these things are IMPOSSIBLE to find in good shape because the corrosion
Achilles hill issue inherent. Very very helpful fellas thanks!  PM sent Lucky13 we have actually met at Lowes once before and chatted a bit.

When I ordered pads they did not come with the shims I had to reuse the old ones. I am also missing a pad spring and have not been able to find replacements. They seem to be discontinued by Honda.

Actually with some research it seems that the pad spring part number may have changed. It seems to now be 45108-415-006, instead of 45108-410-006. Although this part number shows up as for the CX500, it seems to be the same part. I just ordered one so I will see if it is the same part.

keep us posted, they seem to be available here as well as the 410 version- I owned a cx and don't think they had these.

If CMS marks them as "not available," I doubt it that you can get the spring (45108410006, not superseded). As reference and for part numbers go to http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb750f-750-super-sport-1978-usa_model7240/partslist/F++08.html#results
Check the usual places for aftermarket parts if you have to.

Western Hills is a good address for discontinued NOS parts. Don't delay. Get them. Other Honda dealers might list parts as available while, in fact, they are not.

Well my order for the CBX pad spring was canceled as the part was not available. I gave Western Hills Honda a call and they said Honda had maybe 2 of the cb750F pad springs left and that they could possibly get them. They said that the CBX part number was not available. I have decided to just forgo this and purchased some CB900F calipers.

I only need one spring so I better give them a call

I have always reused the old shims. Put a smear of copper grease either side when you fit them, it will stop your brakes squealing.
