I have a work colleague who doesn't go on about anything else -  but I can't complain because all I talk about is motorcycles!

I'll keep an eye on this thread, happy to pass on any questions.

I never had a Westfalia, but I did have a '71 and '74 VW bus for a long time.  That's where I got my real start in working on my own vehicles.  I thought about getting a Westie a few times, but the thought of all the extra maintenance and things that could go wrong, over and above the issues of owning a standard bus, kept me from making the leap.  From what I've seen, owning and maintaining a Wesfalia is more a lifestyle than a hobby.

Now that I've put it that way, I think I just ended up falling down a different rabbit hole of the same depth with the sohc4's. ;D

My brother has an entire interior in storage.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

I've a 1970 that used to be my fathers and when he died I brought it up from California with the thought that I would keep her for the kids and how after various misadventures I now have her back and am going to restore her to road use she's in a shop in Owen Sound and being worked on so shortly into heated winter storage.
In the spring we'll bring her back to here and start with window seals etc, the thought is not to have her show room condition right now but slowly bring her back to what she was in the 70's-80's  but still able to take her out for day trips and for the kids and grand kids to use it might be the only heritage they get from me.
