Tweakin I may have missed this in your thread but what bar end mirrors are you using and would you recommend them?

thanks
Andy
I am running CRG bar end mirrors.  I have run CRGs on multiple bikes and could not be happier.  I have tried less expensive options but always go back to them.

You bet.  If you decide to go with the CRG's, decide on the ones you want then shop around.  I found my last set including adapters on Amazon for a decent price.

When you did your dual disc conversion did you modify/remove material from the right fork lower caliper mount?

I did not B, but still might revisit this.  Everything lined up nicely but I might modify the lower mount to gain a bit more clearance between the caliper and spokes.

There is a slight problem with doing that; it causes the brake pads to contact the rotor at an angle.  To address this issue, I have modified the pads with a 36 grit sanding block to match the new angle.
They will eventually wear in by themselves but it takes a while and may cause the outer pad to stick in the caliper and WILL cause the brake lever to feel spongy for a while.

1 step forward and 2 steps back.   :'(

Get the carbs pretty much sorted and bike running excellent only to find the F'n JDM unicorn triple tree is cracked!!!  I started weeping when I saw this, but then grabbed a fresh IPA to help ease the pain.  Yes, I did have the correct D - washers installed and No, I did not use supper strength when torquing down the pinch bolts...  Such a major downer!

Good thing is our friends at Motorcycle Yamiya had one more aluminum re-pop in stock.  No more worries about the fragile unobtanium top tree.  Plan is to have the old tree welded up and use it in a small art project.

Yes Stev-o, sucks.  Correct, no need for the D washers on the new triple since its aluminum.

Did you use the part for the speed warning light that was on the speedo cable? The reason I ask is there is another part that bolts to the top rail of the frame, kind of like a flasher unit it is round and silver in color. I ask because I have a 70 JDM that I bought new in Japan when I was in the Navy. I have been looking for the speedo part as mine got gone many years ago, before I knew better.

No I have not used it yet but plan on keeping it to use eventually.  I have both bits tucked way for safe keeping.   If I change my mind and decide not to use, you are first on line.

Actually have nice weather here in the PNW and was able to get some more break in miles in on the GT.  New unicorn tree from Yamiya was powdercoated and installed, extremely happy with the product.

I think I have the carb tuning just about right, a little for fiddling and should be good.  I can't believe how great this bike feels, will be such a great cruiser.

After a bit away from messing with the K1GT I decided to upgrade the carbs to more suit the engine build.  Went with CR29's and went back to the Dyna 2000.  Although I had the stock carbs pretty close to dialed in they still were not giving me what I wanted.

Although I did like the look of the stock carbs and airbox better... and the air filter hose clamp will be addressed to be more aesthetically

Really happy with the set up and just in time for the unusually warm weather we are having in February.

Tige,

I, too, am a big fan of CR29's -- although I might go with RS34s on my next project with more go fast parts in my motor.  Great photos, too!
