I'm subscribed. This looks amazing so far, Tweakin. The gauges,  I am impressed with how well you resurrected them.

Built then painted the head yesterday.
     New guides
     Kibblewhite springs
     Kibblewhite black diamond valves
     Kibblewhite Ti retainers
     serdi valve job
     all new 6mm helicoils
     mild port and polish

Next on the list is to completely rebuild the oil pump, including Elan's new stopper and spring, new o rings including new shaft seal.  Man those shaft seals are a #$%* to remove.

Nothing to exciting to update on yet, but still moving forward.

Oil pump rebuild complete, primed and soaking in my oil bath until I complete the engine.

Oil lines rebuilt and polished up a bit.

Engine mounts and axles are polishing up pretty well, but still need a bit of work.  Also sound some new 10mm and 12mm fine thread 12 point nuts for the engine mounts.  Stainless and Black oxide.

Nice work!  I had fun doing my oil pump w Elans kit.
Engine mounts, center stand, and kickstand are on my list of to-do's tonight.  I hope mine come out as nice.
Nice choice on the 12pt nuts.

The black oxide...keep lightly oiled, as you know, they rust easy otherwise and are a pita to clean up.  Wonder if silicone would protect them from rusting but keep the dirt buildup to a minimum?

Who did your head work? Mike R?
Was the head ported at all? I presume with the nice upgrades to top shelf merchandise you had some work done on the head to eek out more performance...

Yes, I know all about the issues with black oxide nuts and bolts.  The 10mm are stainless but the 12mm didn't come in stainless.  Although they are "supposed" to not have the typical issues, they will be shot with a light coat of clearcoat once installed.

Since I already have the wonderful JMR stage 4 head in the 915 i wanted something a bit tamer for this head, I also wanted to do all the work myself.  I did a mild port, clean up of castings and matched the intakes myself for this 836. I was stoked when my machine shop was impressed with my work.  No need for two screaming 750...  I just want a strong running 836 this time around, should move along good.

Be very careful using silicone on the black oxide, most silicone is acidic and will promote rust, there are non acidic versions that would work, ever see all the dodgy  leaky windscreens "fixed up" with silicone.? most just about fell out due to rust not long after... ;)

Yes RR, no silicone here.  The nuts are high quality ARP chromoly nuts, but will probably hit them with a shot of clear to be safe.

Top notch Tweakin, are you going to use lock washers with the 12 points? Just my 2cents but you should hit the exposed ends of the bolts with a file/polisher for nice clean look
