I love the response a name can get out of you all. ;D  When I think of a Turd Digger, I actually think of a cat.  Here is my shop cat Scooter, cross eyed and all.

I came to the conclusion this bike will be closer to stock than not.  Because of this I decided to go with all silver for the engine, with the exception of a few black bits.  I really wanted the focus of the bike to be the candy gold paint.  I do have spare engine covers if I change my mind and decide to polish or go chrome.  I will use the same silver on the forks and other bits throughout.

Couldn't wait to put the tree together, Always wanted a unicorn top tree 750.  Included all new hardware to replace all the rusted out old bolts.

Was also able to get the front brakes all rebuilt including one of Godferrys anti-squeal kits.

On the docket for tonight is building the wheels and getting the engine covers on and ready to meet the frame tomorrow.

Wheels laced up tonight and ready for a fresh set of Avons.

minor set back today as my cam cover some how had a bad thread in one of the inspection holes.  Dropped a spare off at my powdercoater, but since I didn't want to use a frame kit on this build I will have to wait a week until I install the engine.  This is fine because I have a large list of items to complete anyways.  Tomorrow I will rebuild the forks and rebuild the new wire harness.

Rebuilt the front forks with Progressive springs and new fork tubes from Z1.  The Z1 tubes are really nice and fit perfectly.

I spent a bunch of time getting a bunch of little time consuming bit back together and ready for instal.  New wheel bearings installed front and back, alternator cover put back together and tested, installed APE extra plate clutch kit, all new seals replaced in all covers, all new rubber grommets in the frame, oil tank, and battery box, Ricks reg/rect bolted to the bottom of the battery tray, Rear brake rebuilt...  Goes on and on but this will make rebuild move along quickly once I get it into a roller this coming weekend.

I have also decided to go with NOS stock full fenders front and rear rather than bobbing the back, thoughts?

Those forks look fantastic. I might buy another 500 just to restore.

Moving right along, Tige.  Nice work.

Weld up the top-most rebound orifice in the dampers.  That way you'll actually get some rebound damping with 15w suspension fluid.
Take care,
David

Yes David.  I did that on both my other builds and it makes a big difference.

This build is coming along nicely, with no major issues yet.  This evening I was able to get the engine back mated with the frame.

Now the fun begins, once the engine is installed the builds really start to move along.  This one should be completed in the next couple months and ready for spring riding.
