On this bike, tank trim. But only if you have it made from aluminum to match the lustre of the other parts. The cheapish chromed pot metal has too shiny a finish compare et o how beautifully restored your other parts are.

My $0.05.

Regardless, simply beautiful. Got a man crush on you, dude.

No tank trim needed, you asked for our thoughts and are getting it.

Also like the coloring of the exhaust.

Tweakin, TNT, Ron Stronger-whichever alias you're going by today ::)-bike looks fantastic as does your photography work.   A question on the latter regarding your camera-does it have adjustable exposure?  If so, maybe try setting the exposure to 1/2 stop underexposure, which should give the images even better color saturation and less washed out highlights.  I am a fan of the tank trim too.  Nice work Tige....Larry

Thanks Larry, I appreciate the feedback.  Yes the camera does have adjustable exposure but it is difficult to get a good shot in my shop with the low ceilings and fluorescent lighting.  Also I am usually in a hurry to snap the shots and move on so I just use the auto setting when taking build pics.

The exposure should be in the menu.  Your postings are usually a tad washed out so if you changed the setting to underexpose(at least I think that is how digital would work) all your postings would look even better than they do now....  G'day...Larry

The GT version (Golden Turd) is looking very nice... When do you expect to roll it out into daylight. I wouldn't say sunlight given the PacNW winters that are typical, but I have been in Seattle in January before and seen the sun...

Man, I ask for advice and I get a half for and half against...  A ton of help you guys are, ha ha.  The plan is to get some tank trim and try it out, only then will I know.  If I do go with the trim it will be the KO style without the black lines.

All I can say is that maybe Tige will be merciful and take three days to complete this beauty or he's going to blow us away in BOTM!  Take your time, buddy!!  ;)

You guys are funny.  Actually both my other SOHC builds (915 and 78F restomod) were nominated for BOTM and I declined.  Not because I am an A$$, but because I really just build for myself to enjoy and share updates on this wonderful forum, not really into the entire voting thing.  Maybe the turd will be different, but not sure.

David, I never really put a deadline on my builds but the GT "Golden Turd" will be ready for some sun in the coming months.  And yes we do get some sun up here and you need to enjoy the orange orb when it decides to make an appearance.

Personally Tige I'm for the tank trim with no line. I feel like it completes the look and makes the tank look bigger. It also gives the eye a line to look at in contrast to the beautiful color on the tank. Helps draw the eye to the tank because it has a definitive bottom. My 2 cents. Looks beautiful all around man.

I think it has a clean look without the trim but I'd like to compare since I'm a F'r guy.....never paid attention to K trim I guess. Is that something you can do without actually attaching it/scratching the paint???? Just don't detract from that gorgeous tank.

About time you quit teasin us and finally put the gold on!!

I ordered some trim to try out, we will see. I will install it loosely to get an idea of the look then decide.
Hope to get most the electrical completed this weekend.  Other than that my wax board list of "to do's" is shrinking.

+1 for the trim.  Chef said it very well.

By the way, what kind of wheel chock do you have on your lift?  It looks like the Harbor Freight or Northern Tool ones.  How do you like it?

Yes the wheel chock is the cheap Harbor Freight one and it works great for the lift.

Most of my wiring has been completed  ::) and getting closer and closer to initial fire up.  If I didn't already state this, I HATE WIRING.

I am having a major brain fart on what the two extra wires from the (+) on the battery connect to, and the green female off the wire harness.  (pic attached)

Tige that green should be extra. if you use a modern flasher relay you can plug it into that. I use that ground to connect to my pamco unit near the coils though. works great for that. other wise it just hangs out.

That green ground wire is extra and is used on 3 prong flasher. I believe the red wire from the battery/solenoid is the main power wire for the harness....

I was just looking at the K1 wiring diagram and it shows only one 15A fuse for the whole harness. What harness did you end up using? I see you have more than one fuse there.

Could be just extra fuses in a case? I have similar on my K2. Could be wrong, as I'm viewing on my phone...
BTW every time I see this bike I want to buy another just so I can have that color. Awesome!
