Don-  Having ran both carbs, they both have their plus and minuses.  Loved both carbs on their respective builds, CR 29s on all three of me 836 builds and RS34s on my 915.  The CRs have seemed a bit more temperamental that the RS34's but that being said I think I have finally have the CRs figured out for my 836.

The Iphone can take decent photos.

Tige,

I, too, am a big fan of CR29's -- although I might go with RS34s on my next project with more go fast parts in my motor.  Great photos, too!

Actually have nice weather here in the PNW and was able to get some more break in miles in on the GT.  New unicorn tree from Yamiya was powdercoated and installed, extremely happy with the product.

I think I have the carb tuning just about right, a little for fiddling and should be good.  I can't believe how great this bike feels, will be such a great cruiser.

Just reposting for awesomeness tweakin!  Great job again.  I paid too much for my 400F, but it was local and a runner.  I'll start a thread soon.  Priority this year is just to clean up the carbs and fix the clutch.   Make it a good rider. It will be a full resto, but other projects are in front of it.

The GT is getting a few updates.  Over the Thanksgiving break I added a back cut race trans, NOS engine covers and have a C5 ignition coming, pics to come.  I have a NOS K1 seat and pan on order as well so I am thinking of revisiting the tank trim.  (Still not sure Im going to run it but its nice to have options)

Question: Is the proper K1 JDM tank trim have the black stripe or not?  I have seen images with both the stripe and without but want to make sure before ordering.

Thanks!

The pipe is from Moto GP Werks, he sells on ebay from time to time but I currently don't see any listed.  Possibly try giving him a call.

I decided to switch out the powdercoated engine covers for NOS polished covers and the cafe seat for a NOS K1 seat and added the tank trim.  Maybe I am getting soft in my old age but I really want the K1 to look more stoke than not.  Also added a new badge and spring isolators to the GP Works pipe.  I know this doesn't fit my mostly stock theme but I did say mostly stock.  Now I am looking for a nice rear brake carrier I can polish up.

The C5 ignition and new super small coils will be installed soon.

Love how the gold changes colors in different light.

I agree Stev-o, looking for the right one.   Keeping the cafe seat if I ever want to go back.  I tend to like changing things.

Swapped out the trans for a race cut trans, changed all engine covers to NOS/ polished and added a NOS K1 seat and tank trim.  The 836 really purrs with the c5 ignition.
