HID conversion kit - problem
« on: December 04, 2013, 11:30:22 AM »
Hi all,

I've fitted a bixenon kit to my CB500, with relays for both high and low beam. The light cuts out sometimes, but not always, when I switch from high to low.. I have a new battery, and the relays worked fine with the standard light. I suspect a voltage drop somewhere, and the output at both high and low connectors is c.11.5 volts (engine off). I've checked for good ground, and remade a few connections.

Is this the problem - does anyone have experience of this issue? Or could it be a dodgy ballast - I've read elsewhere that this can be a problem.

Thanks,

I know when they are actually on HID's pull less voltage than a halogen, but what about during power up? Does the initial draw of the ballast exceed the alternator's output, causing the low voltage and thus the relays to malfunction?
