Name that part?
« on: November 20, 2013, 11:57:55 AM »
CB350F engine is out of the frame!  Thanks for all the help!  So I took the oil pan off the bottom and I found these three little metal thingies rattling around in the bottom.  Any idea what they are?

No clue.
Can you get a closer shot with something for scale?

Not magnetic.  There were also two small springs in oil pan.  Here's a pic with a penny beside them for a sense of scale.

Well, I figured out what they are.  I read through the entire PDF of the manual, and they are part of the primary shaft assembly.  They are the caps that fit into the rollers.  It looks like the springs provide some kind of tension, but I don't know for what...

I'm a total noob, so I have no idea what the rollers on the primary shaft does.  Any help there?  Should I just start a new thread?  Here's the pic.

Yep. Allows the starter to drive the crank but not the other way around ... which would be bad. ha
