Hard starting 76 Honda CB550F
« on: November 17, 2013, 09:47:22 AM »
I have a 550F Super Sport that is cold blooded. It will start with the electric start but only after numerious 5 second tries.  It will spin over and attempt to start. Usually takes 30 seconds to finally start. It will crank fairly easy with the kick start. Is this a carb problem?

Could be anything, give it the 3k mile service.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

As Lester says. You would be surprised what a fresh set of plugs will do. After that the carbs might need some cleaning and a good vac sync. Mine was hard starting after all that, it turned out I had my idle screws set too lean. A 1/4 turn in on all four and it starts way easier.
