Triumph T140 forks on CB750F?
« on: November 19, 2013, 06:51:16 PM »
I want to put Lockheed calipers on as an upgrade. I currently have a set of Betor forks I thought would do the job but they have no provision for calipers. What would it take to adapt the triumph forks? The optional fork lower is available so I can have dual disks and I could do a new axle as well. It also seems that the triumph ones are 35mm as well so hopefully it's an easy conversion. Thoughts?

No idea on that fork swap Willi.  What's wrong with the stockers?...see that you are in Kalamazoo.  There are a few other members here in our little city.  Kinda surprised we have never met.

Stock is boring to me. The caliper mount on stock forks also sucks for any aftermarket options. I think we talked on the forum briefly last year. Is there a place you meet to work on bikes here in the area?

77/78f forks have better single piston floating calipers with the option of bolt on dual pistons from early '80's vfr, magna, cb900f?  You would need to do some research to get the details.  Member here Jaguar should have more details  ...and there is always the gl1000 swap.  I don't necessarily think stock is boring, but you are right, the stock pivoting caliper sucks and there is little you can do about it.
We should get a Kalamazoo sohc shop night going as I have a nice big shop and so does Ekpent.  I try to make it to vjmc (often advertised on Craigslist) meets at Checkered Past in Galesburg and can be found hangin' there from time to time

The gl is out since its 37mm and I don't want to replace my clip ons. The betor forks I have now look race but I like the thought of the triumph forks since it looks like a rickman then.  I love different and in that regard the front end needs some help.

T140 forks are not 35mm but more like 34 and "something" ( too lazy to go measure them)

and those lockheed calipers are a right pain for siezing up and a sod to get seal for now, pads are the same as a 1275 innocenti (Italian version of a Leyland Mini)

Having owned both a CB750 and a T140 from new I can't see any advantage to fitting the Triumph forks to the Honda.  They were pretty much on par I reckon - nothing special.

The idea is to make mounting dual lockheed 2696 calipers as easy as possible. By all accounts, the Betor forks I want to use are outstanding but I cannot figure out a good way to mount calipers since there is no mounting point other than the two bosses on each leg for the fender/fork brace. I have attached a pic of the forks, although its not my picture, I have the same ones I want to use.
