Oil blockage to head?
« on: November 26, 2013, 03:46:20 PM »
Alright, so I just did a tune up on the bike, Ran beautiful, like a dream. Better than it ever had. Ran a lot quieter than ever hand shifted beautiful and throttled nicely. Rode it across town and i hear a slight tapping from #4 so I decided to try to limp a couple miles home, 35 mph in 5th gear to keep the rev's down. Did not work. a couple miles in the head starting making a horrible noise so I immediatly cut it off less than a second after that started and pushed it a few miles home. The engine would turn over when I pulled over but is now seized.

I read up on it here and I believe it is due to oil starvation at the top end. I'm posting to make sure I'm on the right track and not completely going the wrong way. If it is oil starvation what am I looking at replacing? The cam? Rocker arms? The whole top end?

You're going to have to pull the engine to find out (unless you have a chopped frame).

If the cam is siezed due to the orifice being clogged then you may get by with cam, holders, some rockers minimal. Top end tear down.

If the cam is not siezed then you probably have a crank, crank bearing, rod and piston problem. Bottom end tear down.
