Will a 78 750 front fender work on 71 forks?

No, pre-73 lower forks have different mounting points for the fender as well as the brake caliper. The early fender brace bolted to lugs on the bracket, while the later units used the same top two bolts as the caliper bracket to bolt to the fork lower. To switch to later fork lowers, you will also need to switch the caliper bracket and swing-arm.

Thanks... That's what I was thinking....  Will 71 inner fork tubes fit inside later lowers?
