Engine stalling , electrically related? SOLVED
« on: November 24, 2013, 08:02:38 AM »
Is there an electrical problem that would cause the engine to stall when going into gear? Bike idles fine , revs fine , then when put into gear and easing out the clutch stalls everytime. Almost like a very leantwo stroke bike that you have to rev this piss out of to get it into gear without stalling,.
If you rev the piss outta this one and try and ease out it starts bucking and lurching like the first time you were learning to drive stick and didn't get the friction point and accelerating correct.

High resistance in plug wire caps? Spark jumping to ground when
under load? Gets worse when humid/damp? Get a squirt bottle of water, slowly and gradually mist the ignition system components to see if that makes things change. Mist lightly..just a thought..

dyna s electronic ignition. fresh install , set it statically at full advance as per instructions.  Was wondering if a stuck advance mech could cause this . Idles fine then when eased into gear just dies or bucks. Only other thing I can think of is if the carb vent is obstructed and it isn't getting the fuel it needs.
DH- also has brand new caps wires dyna coils and plugs , iridium .

Just a stab in the dark, did it run differently before you installed the Dyna?

Some SOHC4s have the clutch cable making contact with the key switch harness.  Changing clutch cable tension sometimes move the connector at the switch.

I've no clue which bike you have have though.  I expect you'll get a lot of guesses.

never rode it , came to me not running. It did test fire fine though.

cb750F2  the neutral safety switch doesn't work either. Had to run the wire on the solenoid that is suppose to go the  neutral safety switch to ground for the electric start to work.
I just had a thought about the clutch safety switch being interconnected. I am gonna try disconnecting that wire and kick starting  it and see if it still stalls when trying to take off.

Accelerator pump system in carbs inop? Will partial choke make it better? Enough fuel in tank?

SOLVED- I feel kinda stupid but I guess everyone has there turn.  The problem was I installed rearsets and was thinking to shift one down and 4 up but it is a reverse pattern.
So essentially I was trying to start in 5th gear! Whoa- I thought I was in neutral but it was actually in between gears 4 and 5. I figured it out by managing to get going in 4th I am guessing now and then when I was shifting up the rpms were screaming higher.  Pulled over and thought about it and rolled the bike and shifted it back to true 1st. Now rides great. Might explain why my neutral safety switch wasn't working either but any which way I am glad. Almost pulled a wheelie to accidentally as it was geared up with different toothed sprockets. I did notice the rear braking was a little squirrely . I had to install a master from a 06 R6 as the stock one was unrebuildable and impossible to find one. I remember reading the stock rear brakes were touchy to begin with now I feel if I wasnted to I could totally lock the rear brake.
