That's what I was thinking Larry. Steve, sounds like you need to be looking for an RD400.

I just can't find myself really wanting a two-stroke bike. Do you bring a little container of oil with you all the time when you refill? I can envision a very loud and obnoxious machine that throws more pollution in the air....would be like driving around one of my STIHL yard products, but louder.
Good info Larry.

What about the two stroke of a RD350 and RD400? How do you carry oil around with you?

Your showing your lack of knowledge of motorcycles again Fenders and you didn't read Larry's reply, you don't carry oil around at all, there's an oil tank on the bike and an oil injection unit that meters it out to the carbs, it is adjustable.... Stock 2 stroke road bikes are not noisy at all....

I wouldn't call you a motorcycle restorer, your someone that restores your bikes when you have the time, there's a big difference, a good restorer is considered an expert, that you are not. I like your enthusiasm but you should slow down a bit on the self promotion and listen to the guys that know best, there's nothing wrong with being a beginner here, you should just accept that and move on and learn....

I did read Larry's reply and he said modern bikes. So go be a prick to someone else.

I never said I knew jack $hit about two strokes, either. I'm still learning.

No one said you knew anything about 2 strokes, it was obvious, Larry's version of modern is probably older than you , 2 strokes have been around for over 100 years...

Hey, your  a class act Fenders, your foul mouthed vitriol in the PM you just sent me  says a lot about your character  {in answer to your name calling} . If you don't like the answers you get then stop trying to make out that your some sort of motorcycle genius try hard, you do it all the time..... Foot and mouth disease..... And if it makes you feel any better fenders , no you were not the first mate but its usually people just like you...;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D  Have a nice day.... ;D

Would like to have one of those CL450 or R75/5. Great looking bikes, Jas67. My brother -in-law has a Breva 1100 (red) from new.
He loves that bike, very rare and realiable.

Thank you for the compliments.    That's a nice pair of Kawasakis you've got there.     I lust after the ZRX1100 and the Eddie Lawson replica that it is in fact a replica of  ;D

The Breva is a great bike, though the clutch is out in mine right now.   Replacing/repairing it is going to be a much more major job than a tranverse-crank engined bike where the clutch is just under a cover on the side.    :(

BTW - the 1979 RD400 was one of the last 2 stroke street bikes made.....

Sorry Steve, but I lusted after the RZ350 after I saw this magazine cover. Then I found out I couldn't buy one in CA. >:( >:(

Fenders, most modern 2 strokes have a separate injection tank for the oil.   A tight 2 stroke does not smoke all that much and only becomes loud if expansion chambers are added.  ...Larry

Exactly, the oil tank is on the left side (where the side cover would be on a CB).  It sounds great, not like a landscape tool at all.  I've gotten more positive comments and offers to buy on this bike than any of my others.

And no, I don't need a 400 to go faster, that's why I have the Z1 900!

No.  It was one of the last 2 strokes the USA got. The rest of the world still got some fun bikes.

Thanks for your interest. The authority for Laverda in the US is located in Texas, probably not to far from where you are.
