Anyone used these shocks?
« on: January 27, 2014, 05:33:05 PM »
I like the look and price of these shocks I found on eBay, but I also know that in most cases you get what you pay for. Anyway, just wanted to see if anyone had personal experience (good or bad), or suggestions for a better set up for around the same price point.

Lots of info here on those. Cheap Chinese junk that need work to make them work correctly. Clevis is too wide for the application and without using spacers to take up the slack unsuspecting users will snap the ears off the clevis. That is the last set being offered by that seller in China. They claim direct replacement for everything from CB750 down to 150cc bikes. Last time I checked I wouldn't want a shock sprung for a 750 on a 150 that weighs less than half or vise versa. They are the same as the RFY shock with another label slapped on them. There is another shock being discussed and evaluated right now from TEC Bike Parts that looks to be better quality and more thought into spring rate for your particular application, but they also are made in China even though their website says they make all their product on their UK website.

Member here spent a lot of time rebuilding these and making them work.  I think on the end he gave up.

Those shocks are waste of money if I ever saw one.

Checked my mail: these are for my 400

Hi Matt,

The stock shocks for your bike are 310mm.  Our clevis shocks are also available in 335mm and 361mm.

The standard road shocks with slimline springs sell for $199.00 for the pair and we provide free ground shipping within the U.S.

If you have any further question, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Thanks,

Christina

Hagon's are an excellent choice for the money. Built to your specs for bike and rider weight as well as intended use as I understand.

I went one step above being a complete cheap ass and bought these. *Tec* http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Honda-CB500-CB550-1971-to-1978-Remote-Reservoir-Alloy-Shocks-Cafe-Racer/161204316403?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222008%26algo%3DSIC.MOTORS%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D19839%26meid%3D4426486943967922994%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D8934%26rk%3D0%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D161195015573

They supposedly have the correct spring rate, and from what i could tell from doing some Internet snooping people seem satisfied. I did have to put a washer in between the clevis.

They do offer some flexibility in terms of ride height and tuneabilty vs stock shocks. From the very minimal amount of miles I've been able to put on them I feel that they were worth the money. Much firmer ride and I'm a fairly light guy so i think it would be that much better if you're heavier.

I typically don't buy cheap #$%* but its hard to drop $350+ on a set of shock for a bike i paid $700 for.
