Stock spoke length
« on: November 27, 2013, 07:54:26 AM »
Hello,
I recently was given a 75 400f and after purchasing new front spokes on line, I found they are to long. (It came with a an aluminum 5 spoke rim).

Does anyone know the stock spoke lengths sizes?

I also am wondering how to properly measure a spoke.

Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving

Welcome! Sorry, but I can't help with your spoke question. I'm curious about the 5 spoke rim the bike came with. Please post a picture when you can.
PS It gets much easier after you have 5 posts. ;)

Looks like I can't count or I forgot to use my fingers.

There are seven(7) spokes. The rim reads 185x18 Made in Japan

The picture I'm attaching the best I could get. The bike is put away while I'm collecting parts

Henry Abe wheel?

Your front wheel may be a Henry Abe wheel, or a clone of one. Are there other markings, such as HAINST? Do you have the matching rear wheel?

Interesting, never heard of Henry Abe (i was a car guy for many years and have converted)  but after looking into Henry Abe for the last couple of minutes, my interest is definitely peeked. I will look further tomorrow as it is somewhat tucked away.

The rear wheel is a spoke rim. As an FYI, the bike was purchased in 1979 by my friend, he rode it for less than a year then put it away where it sat until I took it from the very same spot about 4 months ago.
