Had a 66 Dart with the sluggish 170 slant six and three on the tree.  One of the most reliable, economical cars I ever owned.  If I still had the car I swear I'd be able to drive it as a daily driver.  Have been thinking of the new Darts but I am way too cheap to buy a new car...Larry

Did they still have the push button trans? My mom's 62 Lancer had that. :)

No, but in highschool I got my sisters hand-me-down 1973 Plymouth Duster...
The only MOPAR I've ever owned besides my wife's Jeeps.

Wha? Since when are Jeeps Mopar?? Dam Fino...

I wanna say '86 but could be off by a year or two.

You're probably correct I had an 83 jeep cherokee the first year of the small one and it was an AMC. But it had a Chrysler 2.5L 4 banger.

I had a '74 Plymouth Duster for a while right after high school.  Huge POS.
318 w/ 3spd.  Someone had installed Chevy buckets that didn't fit so they were mounted crooked.
The front end was shot. (Common problem with these cars, the torsion bars gave out.)
The rear leafs were shot. Someone had installed air shocks just to keep it up.
It dropped the drive shaft going up a hill one time. I had to stand on the brakes while my buddy got out and picked up the drive shaft.
It sat out during the winter and froze up. It popped a bunch of freeze plugs and cracked the block.
I still have a scar on my hand from my cheap socket wrench breaking while I was trying to pull the heads.
I sold that car and a '73 Caprice with a bad tranny for $150 to the wrecking yard....
Good times! ;D

Vames, I'd venture to guess that any modern shop would'nt hesitate before
agreeing to work on a car like that. Very simple design and easy access to
engine components (more room in engine compartment) Only thing you gotta really worry about is rusted bolts breaking. And even then, most of the engine will be in pieces, so removal of anything that breaks will be easy to deal with. If you do a complete valve job, They might warn you about oil consumption tho..(old rings not able to seal as well as before, versus the valve's newly improved sealing ability)..
JMHO.

I thought you said you had a garage now....

I had the slant six in a little different, and to me awkward styled four door  box.  Half a v-12, and dependable.

I do have a garage now, but zero time between work, family and house. After a life of doing things myself, I have to come to terms with the fact that it's sometimes more economical to pay someone else to do things that I don't have the time to do myself.

Cordoba -- awkward car indeed, but I'd love to drive one. The feel of that fine Corinthian leather must be nice.
