I was searching Craigs list like I do everyday and ran across an add for a couple of cb750 motors, always the sucker for a SOHC I started to study his two pics and the first thing I noticed that the one cylinder wasn't stock and the bore was quite large the second thing I saw is what appeared to be an H beam rod sticking out of the motor (no pistons). It was about an hour drive for me so I called my buddy that was much closer, he went and looked at them and called me and in his code tells me you need to pay this guy and not waste his time, That means buy these now. Well this is what I found for 325.00

So what I have found so far, 73mm RC Engineering cylinders, ported and polished head with oversized valves, a very large cam marked made in the USA I have not verified the lift on it, Carillo H beam rods, Spocket support plate, A very early dyna ignition, The head and cylinder have been o-ringed (metal)

The second motor is a big bore as well with H beam rods but only 3 of them.

Yup, still have the yellow frame. Was starting to build a stroker but now that I found this, I'm probable going with this motor as long as everything is ok inside when I tear it down.
Took the head apart intake valves are shot but the rest not to bad. Need to figure out what cam is in it.

Possibly the sprocket support could be duplicated by a talented machinist in the us (or canada) so others could take advantage and you could have a new one or two for yourself.

Don, I will take some better pics of it so you can see it it's kind of cheesy the way it mounts and to me doesn't seem to really offer too much support.

Well I finally got time to take the bottom end apart and found this thing has a 3mm stroker crank

Don here are some more pics of the bearing support. I didn't notice it before but it looks like it gets bolted to the upper and lower rear motor mounts.

I think if Don does get the support plate from you, he might be willing to share the details of the plate with all of us here on the SOHC forums. I know Bill Benton will need one when he builds the wheelie bar bike and i may be at that point myself with the offset sprocket i put on my no bar bike. The SOHC output shaft is small and may not withstand a lot of hard launches over time- especially with a 7" slick. Would also like to see more pictures of the outboard sprocket and the inside of the plate when you completely disassemble every thing. Can i assume the bearing is inside the nose of the sprocket and rides on a nipple thats bolted to the plate??
