SL350 or similar carb question
« on: December 03, 2013, 11:06:49 AM »
Picked up an SL350 the other day.   Certainly in nice shape, but it looks like PO did a bit of a resto on it some time ago.

Anyway, I'm rebuilding the carbs and noticed a couple of things.   Looks like there is 2 right side carbs - the air screws are on the same side as well
as the drain screws in the carbs.   no biggie there.

However,  each carb has a small nipple coming out of it with a hole  pointing downward.  On 750 carbs there are small tubes connecting the actual carb bodies.  Am I correct in assuming this doesn't need a tube/hose or anything ?   There doesn't seem to a hose to equalize the fuel/air in each carb body.

Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

original cl350 carbs are cv type.  I have a few pair of these carbs and all have float bowl drain screws facing the same way(one facing out, one facing in).  Air screw should face to outside of the bike...iirc.  Watch out when replacing carb bodies, as there are at least three slightly distinct castings used over the years, but I think any of them could be made to work.
If it works good, it looks good...

SL had cv the first year then switched to regular screwed tops.
