Maybe this is in the wrong forum...

I just got a bunch of great tools from Kent Tool. If you are in the Seattle-ish area, I would highly recommend him. Really knowledgeable about everything he had.  He was also willing to split up sets to sell just the tool I needed and gave me 25% off everything to boot...

Picked up an impact driver, a great T-Handle screwdriver, an 18mm spark plug socket, ratcheting wrenches, driver bits and a magnetic holder set for well South of $100.

Now, if I can just find somebody who sells JIS bits, I will be set.

Thanks for the link... They don't seem to fit 1/4 hex drives though. So, I will keep looking, but thanks for the start... Is it me, or does $15 for 4 bits seem a bit (pardon the pun) much?

was JUST looking at those bits. fantastic price for what they are. JIS is magic on these bikes. found that out the other day when i finally got my vessel screwdriver set ;)

I guess I stand corrected as to the cost...

Anyone see any else, or should I look for a 8mm hex driver instead...

If you have the stock toolkit, JIS drivers are in there. I use em all the time to loosen up then screws on my bike.

Jeezus H on a Pogo Stick, I can't believe this is this difficult. I feel like I am the first person on the planet to run into this problem. Now, as much as I was blissfully unaware of JIS bits a short time ago, I would have thought someone out there would be manufacturing this stuff. I guess there is an opportunity for the correctly minded individual...

Are you saying your impact driver is 1/4"? If so, throw it away  and get a 8mm driver. The bits are only $10.16 from Vessel but then you have shipping on top of that. What is your time worth when your strip your screws from using the wrong or cheap tools. The wrong tool is probably why the screws are stripped now. You should always spend your money wisely on quality tools, they will pay for themselves in no time. Take one lesson from us old phogies who have learned this the hard way.

No, my impact driver is 8mm. I am more looking for bits to fit a standard screwdriver, for general screwing and un-screwing using the stock bolts. That is what I am finding so hard to find...

Since this is my first m/c restore/build I am taking any and all the info I can get from the immense collective knowledge of this forum and am more than thankful for all that I can glean. I have lots of wrenches and socket sets, but as it is with all things, unless you have the right tool, you are not getting it done.

Ordered the JIS from Vessel today. Both the impact set and the 1/4" extensions... Now the only excuses I will have for screwing up fixing my bike will be me. Thanks for all the help.

There is a lot of confusion about "JIS" screws.
The CB750 did NOT have JIS (Japanese industrial standard) screws.
The CB750 had ISO (international standard screws).

This whole issue first came up around 1964 when owners started swapping early JIS small carb screws to ISO type screws and it caused fuel leaks and fires. Started on the Yamaha's.

If you look on the float bowl screws of your 1971 and later CB750 carbs you will see that each screw has a small punch mark dot on the head of the screw.
That punch mark means it is an ISO threaded screw and not to mic it up with any other screws.  I lived through that era.

Yes... there are JIS screws, but the phillips head screws on the CB750 can be removed with the CORRECT size phillips screwdriver tip.

Everything I have seen says that the punch mark on the head means it is a JIS screw. ISO is the screw thread, JIS is the drive style.

I don’t know about the other SOHC/4 models of the era, but the way Honda explained the ISO/JIS differences for the CB750 was shown in their original parts books. 

The first image is taken from the CB750 parts book dated 04/69.

The second, third and fourth images come from the CB750 parts book dated 01/74. (This is the last Honda published ISO/JIS reference that I have seen for the CB750.)

Sorry lucky but you are wrong mate, the Honda screw heads are JIS, the screw drivers that are supplied with the bikes from new are JIS, the threads are ISO, its as simple as that...
If you have ever used a JIS driver on the Honda screws{bolts} you would know this....
