what are these guages from??
« on: December 07, 2013, 06:37:46 PM »
I just got two sets of gauges, they were both listed as CB750 but are different, I think one is maybe CB550? I have spun them up with the drill and tacho has different readings between the two of them which suggests to me they are for different engines.

Yeah, I thought the same thing about the redline on the top one but I thought that the red line at 70mph was a 750 only thing?

Can anyone tell me what a 9300 red line might be from as I dont think I can use it at all on a 750.

Frank is talking about the redline on the tach, not the speedo.

The 750F has a higher RPM redline, '77-78 had a 9500 redline and most likely what those gauges are from.

I knew that frank was talking about the tacho but there is also a thin red line on the top speedo. From what I have read this was only present on early bikes when the speed limit was as 70mph not 55mph. However from what I understand all the 750K's had the same redline, an the redline on the top one starts between the 9200 and 9400 marks suggesting 9300.

When I run them with the drill both speedo read the same but the tacho's read considerably different 4000 compared to 7000, the 7000 reading was for the 9300 redline.

Top guages are CB550, bottom are 750; you can tell by the tach range and speedo limits. Some of the early 550 guages carried the "70MPH" zone.
