Yeah it ran 5.60 in the 1/8 with 1.28 60 ft. Thats what I love about wheelie bar bike! Put the motor on the 2-step and let her rip!

I sold my KZ last month and I'm already having withdrawal. I may have to build my old Honda drag bike back up so I'll have something to race. I may just build me a 12 & 13 sec Pro ET bike to play with.

I never caught the drag racing bug, but you folks keep it up and you'll have me building a JMR Stage 5 F2 headed, 1000cc alloy block'd, injected, air-shifted, wheelie-bar, nitro, stroker.  (Full disclosure, I have no clue about half of what I just said and am just subscribing to this thread.)  ;)

My problem is my weight 245lbs and now that I turn 60 I want something simple. No starter cart, pit bike, generator, etc. etc.

Not familiar with wheelie bar bikes, other than my son racing in juniorbike but you should be running very low 6's or high 5's at 1/8 to get to 8's at 1/4 or am I far off? Frank?
Big rake, long frame, engine towards the front and wheelie bars put you in a different class. Stetson's low 9 was on a sit up bike with a basically stock frame.....not wanting to start sh$it BUT that was the way it was. He went to a GS1100 years earlier than 86.

Bill will now have to get used to having an extra person accompany him to the track. That motor will have to be outboard start. Unlikely you could come up with a way to consistently crank a high compression, big bore, stroker SOHC from an onboard starter even at 24 volts.  No more riding the bike to the lanes and pushing a button on the handle bars when its time to make a pass. It'll be more like, where the hell is my guy with the starter cart?. Okay Billy, WELCOME TO MY WORLD- lol. There's a lot more to riding a quick bar bike than just letting the clutch go. I'll volunteer to be your initial crash test dummy until we get the chassis sorted out and then relinquish the seat to the owner/builder. I'd rather the bike have the bugs worked out so all you would need to do is hold on tight.

I'll be certain to record Bills first pass on the bar bike and post it here. There is no way you can describe to anyone the expression a person has when they let the clutch go off the 2 step at full throttle except to see if for yourself. Nothing like that kick in the tail. Bill will never want to ride a no bar race bike again after his first pass on this new bike.

Frank, if I remember correctly I saw you juggling THREE bikes too. Let's see, there will be Calendar Girl, SamAuto, Pena Deuce and what about Bill's 'OTHER" new drag bike? Looks like he'll need another rider to go along with a pit crew AND manager.....

The Aussies on here tell me a Hayabusa starter can be used on a 750 block with an adapter plate. I'm leaning that direction myself. Those guys may be the current experts on drag racing 750's. Hopefully they'll join in.
A cb900 800 watt starter on 24V was another option.

If you are trying to lower your ET, you need to cut all the weight you can. Which means a starter cart. In my situation, I'm trying to make everything simple, not trying to lower my ET. I'll just use the kick starter.

Bill, please take a good look at the outboard bearing support plate in the thread linked below. You WILL need one of these. Hopefully Gary had one in the parts bin you bought from him.
