Time slip from Man Cup race
« on: December 08, 2013, 01:46:46 am »
Finally found one of my time slips from the race in Bradenton. The bike made a full pass down the track although it did spin a bit off the line and wouldn't shift correctly. I missed the dial in by a mile and lifted early but still broke out for the loss( bike #780). It scrubbed off over 15 mph on the run. Not sure what it would have done if i stayed in it all the way.

I think i found my shifting issue tonight- bad air cylinder. I get no resistance when i cover the exhaust hole. Time for a new cylinder and a trip to the track on the next decent day.

Ironically the young man i raced is from SC also and someone i met about about 4 years ago. He's now a student at WYOTECH in Florida. He normally has great lights and runs his number dead on. This was only the 2nd pass on my bike since all the changes and i didn't have a decent first pass to dial the bike in. I knew if the bike hooked it was going to be a much quicker run than my 10.99 dial in but my intention was to cut a better light and play the stripe. Little did i know the darn bike would get all the way down the track to the point of causing me to lift and hit the brakes to keep from breaking out. So much for sand bagging.

I'm hoping this air cylinder is the only problem but its a major start.

This is a time slip from my last time out. Another conservative dial in.  I tried not to leave as hard but the bike still spun and then it wouldn't shift a few times.

Between the shifting issue( i think i got it figured out) and the spinning of the street tire, i'm getting frustrated after taking all that weight off to make the bike quicker/faster   and its  slower than its ever been. I got til next season to figure it out and get it back to being consistent again.
