Still searching for tires for the K8. Anyone running Bridgestone S11 Spitfires?

There are so many choices.  ???

I bought them for a 550 I had a few years back.  Under hard braking the rear locked up, not sure if was oil on road or what?
For $113, I think you can do better.

BRIDGESTONES.

Spitfire S-11, or Battlax BT-45. Both great tires. BT-45 stickier, big fun factor, but wear quicker. DennisKirk for price. If they have any left.

Not easy, is it a Dog?   I've been through this same tough decision.
I now have several tires on my "wish list" on Amazon, including this most recent addition...

Nope, not easy at all. I like those Conti Twins you've saved, but, they are not available in my size.  :(

I'm still leaning toward the Battleax BT45 or the Dunlop D404.

I am running BT-45's on my F2 and have no complaints whatsoever. Throw me in as another vote for BT-45's.

I agree, I would like the vintage look. The tire links you posted are for 18" rears, mine is 17".   :(

Hmmm, cute service girl.... again, 18" rears. But, I will keep looking. Thanks.

Cute girl but cheap, Chinese tires, dont do it!  Many bad reviews on the web about Duro.

I second the Avon AM26 Roadriders.
I upgraded from Metzler Lasertecs and what a difference!  The bike felt much more "sure footed".

That said I've never tried the BT45's.

Lots of discussions on tires here... and lots of knowledgeable riders sharing their experiences... you basically can't go wrong with the most popular three talked about on the boards:  BT45, D404, or Avon AM26.

Not sure if you saw this already:

........

Same dimensions and big difference between Metzeler and Avon?
If not, front and read matched each other and the rims better, a part of the explanation?

Hmmm... I'm pretty sure they were the same size as they are both offered in English sizes, but it's possible I had the metric size lasertecs on my bike.

Obviously my statement is qualitative, but I really did notice a difference taking turns.  The bike just felt more stable when leaned over compared to when I had the lasertecs on.

Is there not a shop near you? You may end up paying a bit more than internet prices, but a lot of independent shops will mount and balance as part of the out the door price (especially if you drop off the wheels instead of the whole bike), or at least much cheaper than showing up with tires to be mounted purchased elsewhere. And they'll likely get rid of the old ones for you so you don't feel the urge to start a hobo fire. The other thing is you can make sure the tires haven't been sitting on a shelf who knows where for two or three years by checking the date code before you OWN them. That said, the last couple sets of tires I've got from Motorcycle Superstore have been less than six months old. I'd shy away from Amazon or ebay because when I buy new tires I like them to be NEW.

Good advice. I do have a local shop, but they don't keep many in stock, they order theirs, also. I'll check with them closer to spring, he's all geared up for snowmobiles right now, and will not work on bikes until March. He's a good mechanic, so I can deal with his idiosyncrasy. If I buy online, it will probably be from Bike Bandit, they have the best prices that I've seen on the tires I'm looking for.

I have had the Battlax BT-45's on my CB450 cafe for 4 years now and i have to say Im happy with them. When they were installed they didn't need any weights to balance them. Mileage wise they have stood up,i have about 8000km's on them the rear will probably need replaced at the end of this summer but thats ok. they do good in hot or cold wet or dry.  Overall i have been quite happy, most likely will be using them on the 750 when it gets done.
